Welcome to our mobile learning app with group functionality (the “App”). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights under applicable data protection laws, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG).

1. Information We Collect and Why

When you register and use our App, we collect certain categories of personal data:

• Registration and profile information: such as your username, email address, and encrypted password, which we need to authenticate you and manage your account.
• Group invitation data: invite codes and group memberships to enable you to create, join, and manage study groups.
• Chat messages and metadata: sender ID, display name, and timestamp, to provide real-time group messaging.
• Document metadata and files: file name, size, type, and storage URL, so that you can upload, share, and download study materials within your groups.
• Timer and study statistics: session durations, Pomodoro phases, weekly totals, to display your individual and group learning progress.
• Usage statistics: installed app package names and timestamps if you enable the “Allowed Apps” focus mode, so we can enforce your chosen app whitelist during learning sessions.
• Device and technical information: device model, Android version, and App version for troubleshooting, analytics, and improving App performance.

We only process these data to provide and improve the App, fulfill our contractual obligations to you, and support legitimate business interests such as fraud prevention and quality assurance. In certain cases (e.g., usage statistics for focus mode), processing is also required to comply with legal obligations.

2. Data Storage and Retention

• We retain your account and profile data for as long as your account is active and, after account deletion, up to three years of inactivity.
• Chat messages and shared documents remain accessible as long as the respective group exists and, after group deletion, for up to two additional years for compliance purposes.
• Weekly and session statistics are stored for one year; thereafter, they are aggregated and anonymized.
• Usage statistics for focus mode are held only for the duration of each learning session and overwritten thereafter.

3. Third-Party Services and Data Transfers

To operate core App features we use Google’s Firebase services—Realtime Database, Authentication, and Cloud Storage—hosted in the European Union. Where data processing occurs outside the EU, we rely on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses to ensure adequate protection. We may also share data with trusted service providers who perform support, maintenance, or analytics on our behalf; these providers are contractually bound to protect your data.

4. Your Rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• Request access to your personal data and obtain a copy (Art. 15 GDPR)
• Have inaccurate data corrected (Art. 16 GDPR)
• Request erasure of your data (“right to be forgotten,” Art. 17 GDPR)
• Restrict the processing of your data in certain circumstances (Art. 18 GDPR)
• Receive your data in a portable format (Art. 20 GDPR)
• Object to processing based on legitimate interests or direct marketing (Art. 21 GDPR)
• Withdraw any consent you have given, without affecting processing prior to withdrawal (Art. 7(3) GDPR)

5. Security Measures
